Guides

Google Business categories for an HVAC shop — pick what you actually are.

Primary and secondary categories on Google Business Profile should match the work you take. This is a short how-to for shop owners editing their own listing. We do not log into Google. We do not claim the right category moves the map pack.

Primary category first

Your primary category should be the closest match to what you mainly do — often Heating contractor, Air conditioning contractor, or HVAC contractor where Google shows that label in your area. Pick one primary. Do not bounce it weekly hoping for a ranking change.

Secondary categories can cover real extras: furnace repair, air conditioning repair, water heater if you truly install them. Do not stack every trade in the county. Categories you do not perform are noise.

Keep the listing and the site aligned

  • Name, address, and phone on the site match the listing (NAP).
  • Services on the website match jobs you take — same honesty as categories.
  • Website field on the listing points at your live https homepage after Hostinger WordPress loads. You paste that URL. We do not.
  • Hours on the listing match hours on Contact. After-hours claims only if someone answers.

What we will not do

  • We do not log into Google Business Profile. DFY is five pages on Hostinger WordPress. The kit is files.
  • We do not promise that changing categories will rank you, send calls, or replace ads.
  • We do not run a citation or category “optimization” service.
  • We do not invent categories for work you farm out and never show up for.
