Commercial vs residential HVAC website copy — keep the audiences straight.

A shop that serves both homes and light commercial still needs honest pages. Do not write one homepage that pretends every visitor is the same. This is copy structure for YOUR site — not a lead marketplace and not a ranking claim.

Decide what the shop actually sells

Residential search language is homeowner words: AC repair, furnace, maintenance, financing if you have a real program. Commercial search language is facility, rooftop unit, preventative maintenance contract, after-hours for a business — only if you take that work.

If 90% of your trucks are residential, the homepage should sound residential. Put light commercial on Services as a short, true section. If you are mostly commercial, do not lead with “family-owned comfort for your home” stock.

Page structure that stays honest

  • Homepage: one primary audience in the H1 and first screen. Secondary audience in a short paragraph or link, not stuffed keywords.
  • Services: separate bullets or subsections — residential jobs vs commercial jobs you actually bid.
  • About: licenses and insurance that match the work (residential vs commercial requirements differ by state — only print what is true).
  • Contact: same NAP as Google Business Profile. If commercial bids need a different email, say so; do not invent a second fake office.
  • Financing: usually residential. Do not put APR language on a commercial-only page unless that program exists.

What not to do

  • Do not claim “serving all commercial and residential in a 100-mile radius” as an H1.
  • Do not use hospital or school logos you do not have permission to show.
  • Do not invent a facilities department phone.
  • Do not promise that splitting the copy will rank both audiences or fill the board. We do not claim that either.
