HVAC estimate request form fields that stay useful — and honest.
A short estimate form on Contact or Services should ask for the job type, the address or town, and a phone the shop can call back. It is not a lead marketplace. It is not a ranking tool. This guide is for shop owners wiring their own WordPress form.
Fields that help the office call back
- Name and a phone that matches how they want to be reached. Email is optional if the phone is required.
- Town or full address — only what you need to know if you drive there. Do not demand a full property survey on first submit.
- Job type: AC repair, furnace, install, maintenance, other — in the words you actually take.
- Preferred callback window (morning / afternoon) if that helps your board. Not a fake “booked this hour” calendar.
- A free-text box for symptoms (“no cool, outdoor fan runs”) — short, not a 20-question quiz.
Where the form lives
Most small shops put the estimate form on Contact, with a second copy or a clear link from Services and the homepage. One notification inbox is enough. Click-to-call should sit next to the form so people who hate typing can dial.
Confirmation message after submit: “We got it — someone from [shop] will call you back during office hours.” Only promise same-day if that is always true.
What not to build
- A multi-step “instant quote” that invents a price without a tech visit.
- Hidden fields that claim the lead came from a vendor you do not use.
- A second tracking phone that is not on Google Business Profile.
- Any copy that says this form will fill the board or rank you. We do not claim that either.
